RTA completes 171k registration transactions in Dubai last year

The Licensing Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai processed 171,528 registration transactions in Dubai during the period from the beginning of January to the end of December 2009.
Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nemat, Director of Licensing Agency’s Vehicle Licensing Dep’t, said: “677,153 vehicle registration renewal transactions were processed in Dubai last year bringing to 848,681 the total number of registration and renewal transactions.
He added: “The highest rate achieved in registration transactions was in October accounting for 16,485 transactions followed by June recording 15,395 transactions, November at 14,844 vehicles, September at 14,498 transactions, July recording 14,302 transactions and May at 14,115 transactions.
As for vehicle renewals, the highest number was recorded in March witnessing renewal of 61,754 vehicles followed by April at 60,639 transactions, October at 60,124 transactions, June recording 59,733 transactions, November at 58,956 transactions, May at 58,500 transactions and December recording 56,425 transactions”.
He pointed out that the registered vehicles fall under 13 main categories, namely motorcycles, light vehicles, heavy vehicles, light buses, heavy buses, light mechanical equipments, heavy mechanical equipments, light trucks, heavy trucks, light tank trucks, heavy tank trucks, light refrigerator trucks and heavy refrigerator trucks.
He emphasized that Licensing Agency seeks strenuously to ensure the provision of safe vehicles meeting safety and environment requirements as well as services to the highest standards available keeping abreast of the best international practices in the context of the RTA’s drive to achieve its vision of “Safe and Smooth Transport for All”.
