Sprint Nextel Deploys Blue Coat’sWAN Acceleration and Web Protection Appliances

Blue Coat Systems, the leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that Sprint Nextel, the world’s leader in telecommunications and technology, has selected Blue Coat^® ProxySG^® and ProxyAV™ appliances, Blue Coat WebFilter™ and Blue Coat^® ProxyClient^® software to power the Sprint Secure^SM WAN Acceleration and Sprint Secure^SM Web Protection managed services. Utilizing the visibility, control and security features of the Blue Coat solutions, Sprint is delivering vital managed security services to its enterprise and government customers.

Sprint Secure WAN Acceleration is now available as a global service from Sprint to accelerate enterprise applications and file access to branch and remote offices. In addition, Sprint Secure Web Protection is available as a global managed security service to provide content filtering and Web protection from Internet threats, including malware, spyware, viruses, phishing and other malicious threats. Both services make use of Blue Coat solutions on premise at a customer’s site, as well as on mobile employees’ laptop computers.

The same ProxySG appliances deployed in a customer’s facility can provide WAN acceleration, Web security and policy control. Similarly, ProxyClient software for laptop computers provides a combination of application and file acceleration, along with centrally-managed Web filtering and malware protection for those working remotely
