“New Champions” come together to define agenda of global growth
Tanmiyat Group, one of the Middle East’s leading investors and property developers, has been announced one of the newest members of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Community of Global Growth Companies (GGC), a group of rapidly growing companies that are redefining the global economy.
Established at the 2007 Inaugural “Annual Meeting of the New Champions”, also known as the ‘Summer Davos’, held in Dalian, China, last year, the GGCs are a new breed of high-growth enterprises that are global in outlook, focusing more on the international market than on their domestic markets. These “New Champions” are expected to spearhead the coming wave of economic growth, and are looking to engage with the most dynamic cities and regions associated with the innovations and technologies that will reshape the future business landscape.
Tanmiyat is keen on attending this year’s ‘Summer Davos’, which will be held in Tianjin, China, from 27 to 28 September 2008 at the brand new Binhai International Convention & Exhibition Center (BICEC) in the Tianjin Binhai New Area. The GGCs will be joined in Tianjin by a select group of mayors and governors, technology pioneers, young scientists and policy-makers from countries with outstanding growth potential, as well as a select group of business leaders with extensive international experience in building global businesses from the WEF’s Partner and Members, who will act as mentors.
“The WEF’s Community of Global Growth Companies is the obvious next step forward in global growth, as throughout the world, companies are looking beyond the borders of their own countries and approaching the future in a visionary way,” said Mr. Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Majed, Tanmiyat Group Vice Chairman.
“Tanmiyat’s strategic vision over the past few years has focused on expanding the company to become a truly global entity, and we are delighted that our efforts and accomplishments have been recognised in this manner, and we are proud to be a part of such a group,” he added.
The WEF was founded in 1971 to “discuss a coherent strategy for European business to face challenge in the international marketplace," and has since expanded to become a global economic think-tank made up of business, political and academic leaders. The Forum’s Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions was held in Dalian, China, last year, and was a tremendous success, with more than 1,700 participants from 90 countries attending.
Originally based in Saudi Arabia, Tanmiyat’s success has seen focus beyond the borders of its home country and expand its operations throughout the Middle East and beyond, in the true spirit of global growth. As one of the Middle East’s leading real estate developers and investment groups, Tanmiyat‘s iconic projects include the Living Legends development in Dubailand, the Ajman Marina, and the Commercial Heights towers in Dubai’s prestigious Business Bay area.
