Al Ghurair City, the pioneers of the shopping mall concept in the Middle East, has yet another fascinating event in store for their loyal customers. As part of Dubai Summer Surprises 2008 activities, they are hosting a unique Chocolate Event from 23rd to 26th in cooperation with the M&M Group. Al Ghurair City is a key sponsor of DSS 2008 and a member of the Dubai Shopping Malls Group.
The four-day long Chocolate Event, the first of its kind in the region, promises to give “chocoholics” of UAE a dose of chocolate like never before. This extravagant event will showcase everything about chocolates, including special programmes like ‘The Making of Chocolate’ Display; a display of renowned chocolate brands; a Live Dessert Cooking Show and even hunting Dubai’s Best Chocolate Chef. Prizes for both the Live Dessert Cooking Show and Dubai’s Best Chocolate Chef are sponsored by Supra, Toblerone and The Rotana Group of Hotels.
The Making of Chocolate Display is a fascinating walk through the entire process of chocolate-making, featuring videos and life size posters that vividly describe each step of the process. The exhibition promises to be as exciting as a visit to a real chocolate factory.

Another attraction for mall visitors will be the massive stand displaying some of the world’s best known chocolate brands. Visitors to this stand will not only be educated about the uniqueness of each brand and its history, but they will also get to sample these delectable treats. One can even buy their favourite chocolates from this display.

Once every day, for an hour there will also be a live dessert cooking show. A custom-designed kitchen will be set up and visitors will get a chance to participate and share their favourite chocolate dessert recipes with the crowd. A judge from the DSS Team will be assessing participants every day, and the winner among all will win a complimentary dinner for two at a top Dubai restaurant. Interested candidates can register themselves at the shopping mall.

While the visitors get to try their hand at whipping up their best chocolate recipes, the professional confectioners from Dubai’s major hotels, patisseries and restaurants will also be invited for a competition to choose ‘Dubai’s Best Chocolate Chef’. These culinary talents will come up with their own innovative recipes using chocolate as a main ingredient. During this event, the chefs will be demonstrating their secret recipes live.

Mukta Sabharwal, Manager, PR & Events, Al Ghurair City, said: “Every year, we join hands with DSS to come up with a series of exciting events that we hope will make our shoppers’ experience even more rewarding and wholesome. The Chocolate Event is one such exclusive programme that is being brought to our mall. DSS came up with this event concept based on the simple premise that ‘everyone loves chocolates’. The event is conceptualised in such a way that it can be insightful, and at the same time a fascinating event for all members of the family.”

Al Ghurair City has also unveiled a vast array of entertainment activities to provide families a fun atmosphere and provide them a rewarding shopping experience during DSS 2008. In addition, shoppers spending a minimum of AED 200 at any of the over 200 diverse retail stores at Al Ghurair City will get a chance to enter a raffle draw to win cash prizes up to AED 4.5 million, which includes the opportunity to win five cash prizes of AED 100,000 each. The other entertainment events include the Flower Rain, Floral Extravaganza, Food Carving, Chocolate Event, Modhesh Party, Circus Picnic and many more. Many world-class brands at Al Ghurair City are also giving away special deals and discounts, as part of their own initiatives to woo shoppers during DSS.
