Nazeeh & Wartan back again seeking environmental supporters during 2008 Jeddah Summer Festival
|
- ALBAIK AND COCA-COLA LAUNCH NAZEEH & WARTAN ANTI-LITTERING CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES DURING THE JEDDAH SUMMER FESTIVAL
- Innovative and fun activities calling for anti-littering and environmental protection
- More than 300,000 persons signed the pledge in 2005
Following the great success of the Nazeeh & Wartan campaign against littering, which ran during the summer of 2005, the fun characters join us today as part of the Jeddah Summer Festival reiterating their message “If You’re Not Nazeeh … You Become Wartan: Littering is a Mistake that puts our City in Trouble we can’t Escape.”
Organized as an ALBAIK and Coca-Cola joint corporate social responsibility initiative, the campaign is aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and encouraging the society to protect the environment.
The campaign requests everyone to adopt the same manners as Nazeeh, who is described as being clean and tidy with a nice nature and a sense of humour. He is loved by all for his sweet disposition, smartness and politeness. In turn, he loves all people, wishes everyone the best and is very helpful. Nazeeh always performs his prayers on time and being energetic and sports-minded he loves to play basketball and challenges his knowledge with puzzles and mind games. He loves to compete in skills competitions with his friends and enjoys participating in activities that benefit the community he lives in. Most of all Nazeeh cares about the environment and promotes anti-littering. In contrast to Nazeeh, Wartan is lazy, untidy, rude, unhelpful, uncaring and unpopular.
During the campaign there will be a Nazeeh & Wartan activities booth at the domestic arrivals terminal in King Abdulaziz Airport, Jeddah, where promoters will be on hand to encourage all visitors to care for the environment and instill anti-littering manners. At the same time there will be a number of campaign activities taking place across the city, including clean-ups at a beach and other public areas.
During the initial campaign in 2005, more than 300,000 participants signed a pledge to confirm their support for anti-littering, while over 1100 people participated in the clean-up activities. In an effort to reinforce the message of caring for and protecting the environment, a fun activities team made weekend visits to various areas of Jeddah and invited local kids to participate in the campaign competitions and play with games that were made of recyclable materials.
By participating in the 2008 Summer Festival, Nazeeh & Wartan promise to build on the message of their 2005 campaign and host clean-up activities and fun events that involve the society and encourage everyone to take part in keeping Jeddah clean.
