Tanmiyat Group presented the Annual Tanmiyat Urban Planning Awards for the fifth consecutive year at the University of Sharjah in recognition of the top students’ contributions to the community.

The Urban Planning Award comes as a part of Tanmiyat’s continued efforts to support education in the UAE by implementing worldwide scientific research practices and providing students with excellent and wide-ranging facilities.

Tanmiyat Group is committed to advancing the research and development activities that are carried out in the UAE. Through this initiative, Tanmiyat Group aims to provide students with the opportunity to sustain and promote best practices in the community and to empower students to put their skills to use for continued community development.

Mr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Majed, Vice Chairman of Tanmiyat Group, said, "We are delighted to be presenting this award for the fifth year and to be demonstrating once again our strong belief for higher education. In accordance with this, we are working on introducing forward thinking initiatives to provide our youth with a platform to advance their educational growth plans in forming a strong foundation for the development of the country."

The restructuring of higher education in the Arab world is placing emphasis on scientific research at colleges and universities and re-evaluating the scope of student activities at these institutions in order to achieve a balance in the relationship between educational establishments and the labour market. A recent study showed that the UAE education budget for 2008 rose by 13 percent from 2007 to US $7 billion, the allocation for public and higher education was the highest allocation to any sector.
