Microsoft Xbox 360 to send the best of the best to PAN Asian Gaming Championship in China

Microsoft Xbox 360, in collaboration with Sharaf DG, organized the Xbox Challenge in preparation for the Championship Gaming Series 2008 (CGS) World Championships. Dubai Mirage, the official CGS franchise team for the Middle East region, will be on their way to the Pan-Asian final to face great teams from other major cities like Sydney ‘Underground’, Kuala Lumpur ‘Taufan’, Singapore ‘Sword’, Seoul ‘Jinhwa’, and Wuhan ‘Dragons’ to determine which top 2 teams compete at the CGS 2008 in Los Angeles.
“We are really pleased to provide this massive opportunity to the regional gaming community – a pedestal to compete and be recognized at a global level.” said Aman Sangar, Product Marketing Manager of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division Middle East. “The CGS is like the Olympic games for Electronic Sports and is one of the most prestigious gaming championships with the highest purse of $500,000 for the winning team. As gaming is growing in the region, this is a great time to involve the Middle Eastern community in the world of eSports competitions and bring great exposure to the local gaming industry.”
The competition saw the best of best battle it out at Sharaf DG in Times Square on the CGS league’s official games; Forza Motorsport™ 2 (Xbox 360), and Dead or Alive® 4 (Xbox 360).
The Dubai Mirage team will be travelling all the way to Wuhan, China and if the Dubai team qualifies in the top 2 of the PAN Asian championship, then team will compete in the world finals in the USA against the best teams from the rest of the world. The teams will compete for $1,000,000 in prize money, where the winning team will receive $500,000.
