U.S. salute quality and safety in the 2008 Honda Accord

Trading Enterprises, a member of the Al-Futtaim Group and sole distributor for Honda in the UAE, has today revealed the all new Honda Accord has won a 10Best Car trophy from top U.S. auto publication Car and Driver in its annual 10Best Cars competition. This is the twenty second trophy the Accord has received since the competition began in 1983.
12 Car and Driver editors picked the winners based on a scale of 1 to 100 with a focus on functional performance, driving satisfaction and value. Commenting on the increase in proportions of the new Honda Accord, the magazine stated: “Honda made good use of the extra size by enlarging the interior, which is now sufficient to promote the Accord from the mid-size to the large sedan category. Yet despite this growth, when you turn the Accord’s steering wheel, it cuts with a sharpness that is unique among family sedans and carves a path so accurately that you can position the car exactly where you want it. The Accord’s brakes and shifter are similarly precise and satisfying."
The Honda Accord was first unveiled in 1976 and has sold more than 15 million vehicles making the Accord the mainstay of the Honda brand. More than half of all Honda vehicles sold in the GCC market are Accord models.

The new 2008 Honda Accord was launched in the UAE in November 2007 under the development title of ‘Change the Power, Change the style, Change the Rules’ with significant new features. A dramatic increase in proportion and aerodynamic styling presents a more muscular, sporty presence on the road. While under the bonnet, the 2.4 litre 4 i-VTEC engine supplies an increase in horsepower to 178 and the top of the range 3.5 litre V6 i-VTEC engine is a new power house capable of producing 271hp. Both engines offer an exciting drive performance and are matched with enhanced safety features including ABS brakes with EBD, dual airbags, sidebags and active head restraints.

Drivers are reassured in the knowledge that advanced safety engineering is standard in every Honda Accord."

The new sporty image of the Accord will be complete when the new Honda Accord Coupe launches in the UAE later this year.
